How do doctors commit health care fraud?

Posted on May 26th, 2010 No Comments

Doctors commit health care fraud in a number of ways. One common way is to submit claims to Medicare for services that were not performed.

For instance, a doctor may submit a claim to Medicare alleging that he performed surgery for a Medicare patient. However, that doctor may not actually perform the surgery but still receive government payments for the surgery.
